BAN

Body's wireless network

To ban something is to prohibit it, usually by legal means: The city has banned smoking in all public buildings.

The noun ban refers to an instance of this: Many people are in favor of the smoking ban.

A ban may also be something that is not legally enforceable but that has the same effect: The student was banned from the school’s graduation ceremony.

Ban also has a meaning related to marriage: it is short for banns, an announcement of an intended marriage.
