Amorites

Bronze Age Palestinians

The Amorites were a Semitic people who inhabited parts of ancient Mesopotamia and the Levant during the third and second millennia BCE.

They appear prominently in the Hebrew Bible as one of the peoples occupying Canaan before the Israelites, often listed alongside Hittites, Jebusites, and other groups.

In biblical usage, Amorite sometimes serves as a general term for the pre-Israelite inhabitants of the land.

The Amorites dwelt in the hill country.
