African American history
Black American past
African American history is the study of the experiences, contributions, and struggles of Black people in the United States from the slave trade through emancipation, civil rights, and the present day.
The term encompasses both the academic discipline and the events themselves: African American history should be taught in every school.
February is designated African American History Month.
