4K video

High-resolution moving pictures

4K video has roughly four thousand pixels across each horizontal line—about four times the resolution of standard high-definition video.

The term comes from the approximate horizontal pixel count (3840 or 4096, depending on format). 4K has become the default for streaming services, gaming, and home televisions: Is your TV 4K?

We shot the documentary in 4K.
