writer's cramp

Author's hand pain

Writer's cramp is a painful muscular spasm in the hand or forearm brought on by prolonged writing.

The term extends to similar cramping from any repetitive fine motor task: I got writer's cramp from addressing all those envelopes.

It's sometimes called scrivener's palsy.
