write up

Document in writing

Write up means to compose a formal or complete written account of something: I need to write up my notes from the meeting, The journalist wrote up the interview.

A write-up is the resulting document—a report, review, or article: The restaurant got a good write-up in the local paper.

In disciplinary contexts, to write someone up is to file a formal complaint against them: The manager wrote him up for being late again.
