woofing

Canine vocal noise

Woofing is the sound a dog makes, or the act of making that sound: The dog kept woofing at squirrels in the yard.

In slang, woofing means talking aggressively or boastfully without backing it up—all bark and no bite: He's just woofing; he won't actually do anything.

The term appears in hip-hop and urban speech for empty threats or tough talk.
