wooden plow
Carved soil breaker
A wooden plow is an agricultural implement made primarily of wood, used to break and turn soil before planting.
These were the standard plowing tools for millennia before iron and steel plows became widespread in the 19th century.
The wooden moldboard couldn't scour cleanly in heavy soils, limiting where farming could thrive: Farmers with wooden plows avoided the sticky prairie earth.
