woodcreeper

Tropical trunk scaler

A woodcreeper is a small brown bird of Central and South American forests that climbs tree trunks in search of insects, using its stiff tail feathers for support much like a woodpecker.

The family includes about fifty species, all with similar appearance and bark-probing habits: A woodcreeper spiraled up the trunk, picking insects from crevices.
