woodboring
Chewing through lumber
Woodboring describes insects or larvae that tunnel into wood, feeding on it or creating passages for shelter.
Woodboring beetles, termites, and carpenter ants are common pests that damage timber structures and furniture.
The term also applies to tools designed to drill holes in wood: a woodboring bit.
