termite swarm
Winged wood-eaters dispersing
A termite swarm is the mass emergence of winged reproductive termites from an established colony, typically triggered by warm weather and humidity.
These swarmers leave to mate and establish new colonies.
Finding a swarm indoors often signals an infestation: We discovered termite damage after a swarm appeared in the basement.
