wolf-pack

Predatory hunting group

A wolf-pack is a group of wolves that hunt and live together, typically a family unit led by a dominant pair.

The term extends to any coordinated group operating as a unit, especially in military contexts: German U-boats in World War II attacked convoys in wolf-packs.

More loosely, it describes any group moving or acting together with predatory intent: a wolf-pack of reporters surrounded the senator.
