wire coil
Wound metal strand
A wire coil is a length of wire wound into a spiral or helix shape.
Coils appear throughout electrical engineering—in motors, transformers, inductors, and electromagnets—where the coiled configuration concentrates magnetic fields.
The term also describes wire sold in coiled form for storage and transport: a wire coil from the hardware store.
