wild cucumber
Explosive seed pod
Wild cucumber is a climbing vine native to North America, producing spiny, inflated seed pods that vaguely resemble small cucumbers but are inedible.
The plant spreads aggressively along fences and woodland edges, sometimes considered a weed.
Despite the name, it's not closely related to garden cucumbers and has no culinary use.
