weaverbirds

African nest builders

Weaverbirds are small, finch-like birds found mainly in Africa and Asia, named for the elaborate nests they construct by weaving grass and plant fibers.

The males of many species build intricate hanging nests to attract mates, sometimes creating dense colonies with dozens of nests in a single tree.

Also called weavers.
