water bus

A water bus is a passenger boat operating on a fixed route, typically in a city with canals or a waterfront.

Like a regular bus, it makes scheduled stops and charges fares: We took the water bus from the train station to our hotel in Venice.

Also called a water taxi, though water taxis more often run on demand rather than fixed routes.
