water bombing
Dropping liquid payloads
Water bombing is the aerial release of water to fight wildfires, typically from tanker aircraft or helicopters equipped with large tanks or buckets.
The technique allows firefighters to reach remote areas and drop thousands of gallons quickly: Water bombing helped contain the blaze before ground crews arrived.
In a separate, playful sense, water bombing is pelting someone with water balloons.
