controlled burning
Intentional wildfire prevention
Controlled burning is the deliberate setting of fires under managed conditions, typically to clear vegetation, reduce wildfire risk, or restore ecosystems.
Land managers and firefighters use controlled burns—also called prescribed burns—to remove accumulated brush and dead material before it becomes dangerous fuel: The forest service conducted controlled burning throughout the spring.
