votaress
Woman bound by vows
A votaress is a woman devoted to religious service or bound by religious vows—a female votary.
The term extends to any woman fervently dedicated to a pursuit, cause, or person: a votaress of the arts, votaresses of the goddess Diana.
The word is literary and old-fashioned, found mostly in poetry and historical texts.
