vent hood
Stovetop air cleaner
A vent hood is an appliance mounted above a stove or cooktop to remove smoke, steam, grease, and cooking odors from the air.
It contains a fan that pulls air up through filters and either exhausts it outside or recirculates it after filtering.
Also called a range hood or exhaust hood: The vent hood kept the kitchen from filling with smoke.
