vegetable marrow
Large green gourd
Vegetable marrow is a large, elongated squash with pale green skin and mild white flesh, harvested when mature.
Common in British cooking, it's often stuffed or made into jam.
Americans would recognize it as an overgrown zucchini—same species, different growing stage.
Usually shortened to marrow: stuffed marrow, marrow and ginger jam.
