unrated version
No classification given
An unrated version is a cut of a film released without a rating from a classification board like the MPAA.
Studios use the label to suggest content too extreme for theaters—more sex, violence, or profanity than the rated theatrical release: The unrated version includes twelve additional minutes of footage.
Sometimes the differences are minimal, with "unrated" serving mainly as marketing.
