union card
Labor organization ID
A union card is a membership card issued by a labor union, proving the holder belongs to that organization.
In industries with strong union presence, having a union card may be required for employment: You won't get hired on this job site without a union card.
Figuratively, it can mean credentials qualifying someone for membership in any group.
