union boss
Collective bargaining head
A union boss is an informal, often pejorative term for a labor union leader—someone who heads a union or holds significant power within it.
The word *boss* implies wielding authority in ways that may be heavy-handed, corrupt, or self-serving: The union boss called a strike over the objections of rank-and-file members.
Critics of organized labor favor the term; union supporters typically prefer *union leader* or *union president*.
