unclipping
Undoing a clasp
Unclipping is the act of releasing something from a clip or fastener.
You might unclip a carabiner from a rope, a seatbelt from its buckle, or a badge from a lanyard.
In cycling, unclipping refers to twisting your foot to release it from a clipless pedal—a moment of minor panic for new riders approaching a stop: I forgot to unclip and fell over at the intersection.
