uncasting
Taking back parts
Uncasting is the act of removing an actor from a role they had been cast in, or reversing a casting decision before production begins.
The term appears in entertainment industry discussions when creative differences, scheduling conflicts, or public controversies lead to recasting: The studio uncasted the lead after the scandal broke.
Less commonly, uncasting describes the mental exercise of imagining a film without its iconic performer: Try uncasting Harrison Ford from Indiana Jones.
