two-stepping
Honky-tonk floor movement
Two-stepping is a style of partner dancing done to country or Western swing music, characterized by a quick-quick-slow-slow step pattern as couples move counterclockwise around the floor.
The term extends to any situation involving a two-step process or navigating something in stages: We've been two-stepping around this issue for weeks.
