turfing

Installing living lawn

Turfing is the practice of refusing to treat a patient or passing them to another department or physician, typically because the case is difficult, uninteresting, or unlikely to pay.

Hospital slang, often disapproving: The ER keeps turfing patients to internal medicine.

Separately, turfing means laying grass turf, or in British slang, throwing someone out.
