mounted head
Hunter's wall decoration
A mounted head is the preserved head of a hunted animal, typically attached to a wooden plaque for wall display.
Taxidermists prepare deer, elk, moose, and other game trophies this way.
The practice signals hunting success and has become a fixture of rustic décor: A twelve-point buck's mounted head hung above the fireplace.
