trooping the colour
Monarch's birthday ceremony
Trooping the Colour is the annual British military ceremony marking the monarch's official birthday, held in London each June.
Regiments of the Household Division parade their regimental flag (the colour) before the sovereign.
The elaborate ceremony dates to the 18th century and draws large crowds: We watched Trooping the Colour from the Mall.
