trigger guard
Accidental discharge preventer
A trigger guard is the protective loop of metal or plastic surrounding a firearm's trigger, preventing accidental discharge by blocking unintended contact.
The guard allows the shooter to rest a finger safely outside until ready to fire: Keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until you're ready to shoot.
