crossbow bolt
Short, thick arrow
A crossbow bolt is the projectile fired from a crossbow—shorter and heavier than an arrow, with a flat or blunt rear end rather than nocked feathers.
Bolts are designed for the crossbow's horizontal firing mechanism and higher draw weight: The bolt punched through the armor at close range.
