tree boa

Canopy-dwelling serpent

A tree boa is any of several species of nonvenomous constrictor snakes that live primarily in trees.

Found in Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Madagascar, they have prehensile tails for gripping branches and hunt birds and small mammals at night.

The emerald tree boa, bright green with white markings, is among the most striking.
