A transmission system is the mechanism that transfers power from an engine to the wheels or other moving parts.
In vehicles, this includes the gearbox, clutch, and drivetrain: The transmission system needs servicing.
The term also applies to electrical grids—the network of power lines and substations that move electricity from generators to consumers: A storm damaged the regional transmission system.
