transecting
Slicing straight through
Transecting means cutting across or dividing by passing through.
The term appears most often in scientific and medical contexts: a surgeon transecting tissue, a road transecting a forest, or a researcher transecting a study area to collect samples along a line.
The highway transects the wetland, disrupting wildlife corridors.
