tomahawking

Indigenous hatchet striking

Tomahawking is striking or killing with a tomahawk—a light axe associated with Native American warfare.

The word appears in historical accounts of frontier violence: The settlers feared being tomahawked in their sleep.

In modern usage, tomahawking describes forceful downward motions resembling an axe strike, especially in sports: a tomahawking slam dunk, a tomahawking volleyball spike.
