tollbar
Road fee checkpoint
A tollbar is a barrier, typically a gate or bar, placed across a road to stop travelers until they pay a toll.
Common in historical turnpike systems, the tollbar would be raised or swung aside once payment was collected.
The term is largely historical, as most modern toll collection uses booths or electronic systems rather than physical bars.
