thumbprint cookie
Indented butter cookie
A thumbprint cookie is a small round cookie with an indentation pressed into the center, typically filled with jam, chocolate, or icing.
The name comes from the traditional method of pressing your thumb into the dough before baking to create the well.
They're common at holiday gatherings and cookie exchanges.
