A drop cookie is a cookie made by dropping spoonfuls of soft dough onto a baking sheet, as opposed to rolled or shaped cookies.
The dough spreads during baking, producing cookies with irregular edges.
Chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal raisin cookies are classic examples: I made a batch of drop cookies for the bake sale.
