throw line
Darts player's stance
A throw line is the marked line from which a player releases the ball or projectile in various sports and games.
In basketball, it's the free-throw line; in darts, the oche; in bowling, the foul line.
The term emphasizes that stepping over it during the throw violates the rules: He stepped past the throw line and the shot didn't count.
