the soul
Immortal inner self
The soul is the immaterial essence of a person—the part believed to survive bodily death in religious and spiritual traditions.
It represents the seat of consciousness, personality, and moral being: She felt it in her soul.
Soul also means emotional depth or sincerity: music with soul, a performance lacking soul.
A person can be called a soul: not a soul in sight, poor soul.
To bare your soul is to reveal your innermost self.
To sell your soul is to sacrifice integrity for gain.
