terraformers

Planetary environment engineers

Terraformers are people or entities that terraform—transform a planet's environment to make it habitable for Earth life.

The term belongs almost entirely to science fiction, where terraformers might be engineers, colonists, or machines working to give Mars breathable air or liquid water: The terraformers had spent three generations warming the planet.

By extension, anyone radically reshaping an environment for human use.
