telesurgery
Distance surgical procedure
Telesurgery is surgery performed remotely, with the surgeon operating robotic instruments from a distance—sometimes across a room, sometimes across continents.
The technology allows specialists to perform procedures in locations they couldn't otherwise reach: The cardiac surgeon in Boston performed telesurgery on a patient in rural Montana.
Also called remote surgery.
