tank destroyer
Armored anti-armor vehicle
A tank destroyer is a military vehicle designed specifically to destroy enemy tanks.
Unlike tanks themselves, tank destroyers typically sacrifice armor protection or turret rotation for greater speed, lower profile, or more powerful guns.
The term applies to both World War II–era vehicles like the American M10 and modern anti-tank missile carriers.
The tank destroyer battalion moved up to support the infantry advance.
