swipe up
Gesture to advance
Swipe up is a touchscreen gesture—dragging a finger upward across the screen—used to navigate apps, dismiss notifications, or access features.
On social media platforms, particularly Instagram Stories, swipe up became a call to action directing viewers to follow a link: Swipe up to shop the look.
The phrase now sometimes appears ironically or as shorthand for "check this out."
