A sun halo is a ring of light that appears around the sun, caused by ice crystals in the atmosphere refracting sunlight.
The most common type forms a circle at 22 degrees from the sun.
Sun halos often indicate approaching weather changes: A sun halo usually means rain within 24 hours.
