parhelion

Bright atmospheric halo

A parhelion is a bright spot that appears in the sky beside the sun, caused by sunlight refracting through ice crystals in the atmosphere.

Parhelia typically appear in pairs, one on each side of the sun, often accompanied by a luminous halo.

They're commonly called sun dogs.

Plural: parhelia.
