sublandlord

Tenant who rents

A sublandlord is a tenant who rents out all or part of their leased property to another person.

The sublandlord remains responsible to the original landlord while acting as landlord to the subtenant: The sublandlord collected rent from us but still answered to the building owner.

The arrangement is called a sublease.
