privity
Shared contractual bond
Privity is a legal term for a direct relationship between parties that gives rise to mutual rights and obligations.
In contract law, privity means only the parties who signed an agreement can enforce it or be bound by it: A third party lacks privity and cannot sue under the contract.
The concept also appears in property law, where privity of estate connects successive owners or landlords and tenants.
