subgraph
Graph within graph
A subgraph is a portion of a graph formed by selecting some of its vertices and edges while preserving the connections between them.
In mathematics and computer science, any graph contained within a larger graph qualifies: The algorithm searches for a matching subgraph.
Social network analysis might examine subgraphs representing friend clusters or communities within the larger network.
